MTV Roadies 6 : Episode 1 : 10 January : Part 1 Online Summary

WOW! WOW WOW WOW! Was that ONE episode! Really!?

The best 90 minutes of television I’ve seen in QUITE a while and it is ON, man! This is it.. its bigger, its badder, its gonna be one hell of a show! Roadies is BACK!

The thing is that even before the show was to start I knew it was gonna be one rocking episode. Frustrating it was to sit through those goddamn cheat code vignettes (why are they still airing btw!) before the show kicked off 15 minutes off schedule. The Tickr did keep me amused enough during the delay.

The bike burns. O boy o boy o boy o boy o boy…

ROADIES HELL DOWN UNDER, BABY!!!

The Episode
Day 1 and the Roadies drop off at Manesar, where they are welcomed with ARCHIES branded ROADIES GOODIES (win yourselves some of the goodies in MTV Reel Deal) and are soon invited for the introductory party. Initial observations; Paulami, Varisha - every bit as irritating as I thought they’d be, Devarshi would provide lots of lol moments while he is on the show and Roop looked WOW! Suzanna too. Sonia, also.. and Natasha and Tamanna and Neha and umm.. yeah.. sooooo.. a scroll leads them to the familiar setup.

The bikes were lined up and it seemed we were in for an early vote-out. Then, Raghu popped up and, in what will be the second most talked about part this week, divided the 20 into two groups of 10 -safe and unsafe, seemingly randomly. I refuse to buy the deserving/undeserving crap.. that with people like Vicky, Tamanna, Paulami, Devarshi etc. being in the wrong group.

Raghu channeled his inner Farhan Akhthar and delivered the “breaking news” - survival task comin’ up.

The Task - Obstacle Course

The 20 Roadies set out on their bikes and a tractor ride drops them off at an obstacle course. Rannvijay points them to a big screen (wow! Budget gone up, really) and OMG, WTF…AKSHAY KUMAR HOLY S**T! 5 people were to leave then and there. 20 down to 15, jus’ like that!

The teams were divided and the Yellow team set off first. Hopping their along (really!?) they stumbled up the net and on the way down; took a crazy spill which looked scary in the replays (notice Sufi’s head in the fall and how it snaps back). Pick yourself up, brush yourself off and crawl through the mud to gobble CHANDNI CHOWK Parathas.

Funnies - “Devarshi : Woh paraanthe dekh ke mujhe bhook lag gayi!” xD

The Green team went next and seemed to be more organised during the net climb and the mud crawl but only managed 19 parathas, two less than the Yellow team.

Thus, there itself it was the end of the line for Bhanu, Neha, Ankur, Vicky and SONIA! :(

Couldn’t care much about the first three; but I thought Vicky deserved better and SONIA! SONIA! SONIA! *sadness*

One more was to leave, from the Yellow team.. voteout time! But not before lunch @ KFC

Confrontations + The Voteout

Back at the hotel, a harmless game of spin-the-bottle turned unnecessarily ugly cuz of Palak’s rigid head (who else hates her?) Roop still looked WOW and I was cheering her on all the way. Woo hoo! Way to go, Roop! You go, girl!

Pre-voteout politics and Nauman seemed set to leave (which translates to Nauman doesnt get voted out today). The votes are tallied and Sufi leaves early (wonder how many hearts broke @ that!)

Friction between Bobby and Palak. Interesting possibilites. We know from the sneak peek that things will get uglier. Yay!

The Making of Roadies

Its the end of an era, or so it seems - Raghu will not be part of the journey from here on and say whatever about the guy, he will definitely be missed, not only be the cast and crew but us too. Behind the Scenes, last year was the first time we saw the real Raghu and it’ll be sad to not have that this time around. The crew though is still chockfull of screwballs and characters. Hell lots of lol moments during the 5 min vignette, from them counting Roadies as if they were sheep to Bumpy’s somersault to Raghu leisuring while everyone else worked.. I’m so glad they brought back this segment of the show. Makes for a delightful viewing experience after the twists and turns of the actual show.

Next week: BALLWHACK! Muahaha!
