And so, Devarshi leaves… Personally, I feel a little sad and will miss him, considering how much I enjoyed watching him make an ass of himself in episode after episode! I wish he had stayed on the journey longer. But he dug his own grave. And lay down in his own coffin. Literally! Rajiv was fuming! And so was I. He deprived us of the chance to observe the true behaviours of his teammates by volunteering, like an idiot, to go into the coffin, and handing everyone an easy way out. Thankfully, we had the brats in the other room, who provided a more interesting study. The characters really came out… the bullies, the parasites and freeloaders, and the victim.

The real piss-off we had with Devarshi was with his unbelievable stupidity. Obviously, he didn’t want to leave the show. Then why did he jump at the chance to get into the coffin? Obviously, he thought he wouldn’t be made to leave the show, in spite of what Rajiv had clearly communicated to his team, because he was sure there would be a twist in the end that would make him the hero of his group. His “I’mhere-to-win-I’ll-leave-the-showfor-my-team” flip-flop seems less schizophrenic when you put it in this perspective. He clearly didn’t want to be a martyr, but wanted to be seen as one. He made the mistake of trying to anticipate our next move. And paid the price.

The other room, like I said, was much more interesting. It played out pretty much like I had anticipated. Given a situation like that, team unity goes for a toss. People turn on each other. And then, they start ganging up on the weak. Another reason for thinking up this situation was that I wanted to make a clear statement about bullying. And punish people for turning on those weaker than themselves. It happened beautifully. But Bobby screwed it up. Instead of protecting those who needed it, she remained gullible and became a pawn for her tormentors. And Roop, her friend, had to pay the price for it. As they say, you can take the horse to the water, but you can’t make it drink… This week, the roadies reach Silvassa, the last destination in India, before flying to Australia. The game changes again… In Silvassa, the gangs are dissolved. Now, each roadie is truly alone. But who gets Rs 2 lakh the two gangs have earned between them? The mask of civility is quickly ripped off now.

As the roadies keep getting hit with twist after twist, we learn what is more important — performance or survival.
